• The first thing to remember is that a response to an ad is a kind of advertisement in its own right. You need to say hi, and say that you saw the personal ad and thought it was interesting. A good idea is to say what you found interesting about it. Then you'd be wise to tell a little about yourself, to make you sound interesting enough to respond to.
